    Hey Gung Ho…

I was introduced to your pizza at work by a colleague… But now I check out your website I see that you deliver across the street from me… But not my side of the street.

I live in Ascott Beijing… Any chance you add this side of the Guomao crossroad to your delivery area? Lots of potential pizza eaters live here, and you deliver to the three other corners of Guomao bridge…

Similar problem here, live at the wrong side of Dongzhimen Subway crossing. Any chances of delivery there? :)

I live on Jintai Lu, within the pink range on your map. However, when trying to order tonight I was refused delivery and was told that my apartment is outside of the delivery zone. If this is really true, I recommend changing your map.

      Hi Nic!

Ah I’m sorry! It appears you’re right on the edge of our zone and things get a bit tricky out there. Do you live on the east or west side of the road? It sucks that we have to cut it that fine, but we have to call it somewhere :S And good point about the map. I’ll double check with ops to make sure and then change it ASAP if necessary. Thanks for taking the time to let us know!

Hey Rich. Yeah, I understand that it is tricky on the edges and you don’t want to send your drivers out on a wild goose chase…I live on the west side of Jintai Lu, which is definitely in the pink zone on the map. The problem came when I mentioned the bus stop, which is Hong Miao something-something-something. The mention of Hong Miao immediately triggered a “that’s out of our delivery zone” response, even though I was only giving the bus stop as a reference point.

I hope that I’ll perhaps be able to get some Gung Ho delivery in the future :-) Cheers!

Thanks for the suggestion Julie! We’ll definitely check out the area! Unfortunately we have to figuratively and literally draw the line in somewhere. Good news though! We’ll be hopefully opening up many GHP’s in the future (i.e. next year!) so keep a lookout. Rich.

  6. Hi guys,

    cool website you good there…

I also got an order refused because I leave 100m (and really, believe IT IS a 100m) from the west side of Jian Wai SOHO, in Genertime International Appartments (Derun Tower). So you deliver to JianWai SOHO but not the building next to it ?

What if I order on YonganDongli, an wait on the street, would you deliver ? I can walk a 100m !!!

    lol

    Hi Petri

Jade here, one of the owners of GHP. Thanks for your feedback…we are all about it!

Unfortunately we are really strict on our delivery boundaries, reasoning being that we have worked out where we can deliver with confidence of getting you a killer pizza, and where it starts to get cold i.e bad pizza. I know it’s only 100m, but once we go 100m, then your neighbor wants us to go another 100m, etc. Before we know it we are miles away aka Tongzhou! So we have a 3 way strategy to get you a Gung Ho fix 1) Drop into the store whenever you are in the area(Now in Lido and Sanlitun)…always tastes best straight out of the oven 2) Order from your home and then drop down at the right time and we can meet you at some landmark in the zone 3) Hold tight…we’ll have a store opening in your area soon.

Sorry we can’t pull through on this one…hope you can understand.

I saw on thebeijinger your restaurant was really good so i wanted to give it a try. I live in Shuangjing and i know that is outside of your delivery zone, but i read above that we can meet at a famous landmark inside your zone.

I was really excited to try some good pizza (after living in Beijing 5 years) so i called your Sanlitun restaurant and asked if we could meet at the CCTV tower. The girl who answered the phone said no. I tried to reason with her for 10 minutes, telling her that your company website said this was no problem, she still said sorry. I asked to speak to the boss, she said thats not possible.

I can only say that very disappointed, if you are going to hire chinese staff i suggest you school them properly in western standard customer service, after all, thats your niche isnt it.

        Hey Tom,

So sorry about this delivery mess! It’s true we used to deliver to third locations for pickup but recently we’ve had a few cases of people turning up late, or not turning up at all. Waiting around affects the pizza (especially in the Beijing winter!) and no-shows affect other customers. This has additionally (and unfortunately) resulted in some shifts delivering for pickup, and some not – definitely out fault here, and definitely not the Gung Ho! way.

So for the moment we’ve decided to suspend third location deliveries until we can put together a better system for doing this and avoid experiences like your in the future.

        Sincerely,

        Rich

PS Re: your last comment we do try to look in on all facets of the customer experience!

      Hi guys!

Just a postscript here… We’ve suspended second location pickups for the time being as we’ve had a couple people not turn up and some other related nonsense.

We’re looking into ways to do it better, nice/naughty list, etc. but for now we’re unable to do it! We’ll keep you posted.

Change your map. I am shown within your delivery area but when I called i was told that i was too far???

      So sorry T!

Since the new store opened up we’ve had a bit of a turf war with the zone coverage but those maps should be current and up to date :S Can you please send your street address to johnandjade@gunghopizza.com? I’ll double check the map and ops and see what’s gone wrong.

      Cheers,

    BOOOO!!!

I came to Beijing all the way from Lanzhou and wanted to try GungHo Pizza. I stayed at the Yong An Hotel on MaiZiDianJie . I looked on your website and it is clearly within your delivery area. But when I called your staff refused to deliver to the Yong An.

I guess I’ll have to call Pizza Hut instead.

    • Rich #

Yikes! Robert, I’m so sorry. I just checked: the Yong An Hotel is definitely within our bounds. I’m not sure what happened yet, but it’s definitely in error. It could be a newbie on the POS for example, but either way, if you make it back to Beijing, drop me a line and I’ll sort you out with some free pizza! Again, sorry about that! ~Rich

I just tried to order my first delivery pizza from Gungho and have given up. I met on of the founders at an OCCB event about a year ago and was impressed, but today, well staff need training to put it bluntly. I first phoned the sanlitun branch, they couldn’t understand phoenix city in English so I had to speak chinese and then I was told they don’t deliver here. I said I saw a delivery bike was seen outside my apartment block yesterday and she just kept saying they don’t deliver. I gave up, when I realised from your website you have a separate lido number i tried this and was amazed that your sanlitun staff hadn’t suggested this, but no luck. Your staff at the lido branch couldn’t understand pheonix city, sanyuan qiao when said in English or Chinese; its a well known complex, staff need to be trained to know it. I’m now ordering my pizza tonight from a rival company unimpressed with my experience of gungho and unable to check if your pizza is actually any good!

      Hi Sam!

I’m so sorry about your negative experience! Not Gung Ho at all. The Sanlitun vs Lido problem has cropped up a couple of times already and we’ve stuck it in this week’s training. Right now we’re still getting to grips with the new area and unfortunately there are still a few places we aren’t aware of! I’ll do some training today personally and make sure Phoenix City is on the map!

Hey! I’m living in HuaMao apartments, checked your delivery zone and find out that it’s covered, but when called to order, operator talled me that they cannot deliver to HuaMao and she doesn’t know why it covers the place on the map…. Moved to new place, would love to order the famous pizza sometimes

Hi Dim! I’m really sorry about this. It took us awhile to track down the reason (shamefully) but we’ve sorted it out now. We DO deliver to HuaMao. That map is correct! We’ve talked to the team; everyone’s clear now. I apologize for the inconvenience! Not very Gung Ho! at all :( But please, if you’d like to give us a second chance go for it. We’ll deliver :) Rich

Just to add a positive experience on home delivery. I live on the edge of Wang Jing (in the “pink”, but only barely!), and when I called, I got my order done perfectly, and delivered under the estimated time.

I often order delivery (have ordered pizza hut, pappa johns, annies, etc.), and the address is ALWAYS an issue…hard to understand, don’t know it, etc. With Gung Ho, it was a breeze…and better pizza, too! :-)

I order Papa Johns regularly (atleast once a week), but had a chance to try some GungHo Pesto Wholewheat pizza earlier last week. It was so so, but something different. Seemed too dry. Anyways, I thought I shall try your delivery. I went online, checked the map, called the SLT location 5 times from 950-10 pm. Each time, the machine would pick up, I would press ZERO, it would go to the operator, who would hang up the call!

I called the other number, the girl didnt understand me, finally after some difficulty, she got my address saved in the computer. Then called another girl, who spoke better Eng. But she asked me for all my details again, I told her that the previous girl has just saved the info in the PC. At which, the phone got disconnected (don’t know if she hung up, or it just got cut).

I would have expected a call back after that.. but I guess its too busy.

    Back to PJ again.

    Hi there,

maybe this suggestion doesn’t make any sense for you, but I believe you would enhance your customer satisfaction greatly if you would modify your delivery zone system slightly.

For instance, having an official delivery zone on the website, like you do and then an inofficial one which for example includes the adresses on the otherside of the street for your system. A 5 cm thick extra grey zone as you could say all around the official delivery zone. As there seems to be not only one who is affected and very sad about not getting his awesome Gungho pizza, allthought he or she is basically in the “zone” but not really (this makes people, including me, really upset)… This would prevent having – as you mentionned above: “I know it’s only 100m, but once we go 100m, then your neighbor wants us to go another 100m, etc.” and at the same time you would have statements has: ” wow you guys rock, because I’am not really in it but they still delivered… Thanks so much!” And people who are really out of the official map will not dare complaining because obviously they are outside.

For some reason this makes perfect sense to me, i believe its not to hard to put into place and at the same time you will avoid a lot of dissatisfaction – but maybe it is really not praticable…

I agree with Julien. I live at the Beixinqiao intersection. According to the delivery zone area on the map Gungho should deliver to the South East side of the intersection. Unfortunately I live over the other side of the road (South West end of the intersection). I asked if I could walk over the street and collect the pizza but was told that Gungho don’t deliver to Beixinqiao. Rather disappointing – I don’t want to have to go to my friend’s place in Dongzhimen everytime I want to order Gungho pizza!
