Gung Ho! Allstar - Batteries not included!

Action Figures Coming Soon!

We stand behind our product. So much so, in fact, that we’ve stuck the face of the last person to check your order on the side of the box. See? That’s David. He checks the pizza coming out of the oven, and he checks that your order is… in order.

And if you’d like to learn more about David and the rest of our team, you can check out their bios on our new GHP Allstar page!

Here’s the opening paragraph copied in it’s glorious entirety (spoiler alert!):

We believe that the success of Gung Ho! Pizza is absolutely dependent on our team.

We spend a lot of time and energy finding the brightest and most passionate people, developing and training them, taking care of them, and creating a fun and productive company culture to retain them.

We really do feel that we have the best team in Beijing – most of the comments we get are not just about the pizza but also about our awesome team and service!

You’ve talked to our customer service team, you’ve met our delivery guys at the door, now meet the old guard, the Gung Ho! Lao Shou’s that rock it day in and day out behind the scenes.

GO! GO! GO!

Gung Ho! Allstar: Charlie

Gung Ho! Allstar: Charlie!

It’s no wonder really that so many of our Gung Ho! Allstars were also here on day one. It’s not just a job; it’s more of a way of life. Take Charlie. One of our first two chefs ever, he’s risen through the ranks like a true champ and now runs our central kitchen! With discipline and an eye for quality, he’s a Gung Ho! Allstar

Gung Ho! Allstar: Betty

Gung Ho! Pizza Allstar Betty

This is Betty, another member of our very small ‘day one club’ – she made some of our first pizzas! In true Gung Ho! style she may speak softly but she delivers in a big way. She rocked it as a chef and now she’s crushing it as a manager. She’s even teaching herself English! She’s not just a star. She’s a Gung Ho! Allstar.

Gung Ho! Allstar: Honey

Gung Ho! Allstars: Honey

This lovely lass is Honey. She’s been working here at Gung Ho! from the very start. She began as an apprentice chef (she’d never cooked anything except instant noodles before!) – not only did she become a chef in very short order (pun!), she also just became a manager. Pretty great huh? She’s one of our Gung Ho! Allstars.

The Best Damn Team in the World

Massive props to the best damn team in Beijing, if not the world. It’s hard to remember sometimes but a lot of these kids are, well, kids. Kids from second and third tier cities, and some from tiny villages you couldn’t find on a map. They work so hard every single day and we love them for it. These awards are definitely for, and by, them.

Go! Go! Go!

Speechless

Gung Ho! John, Sammi & Rich at the City Weekend Awards!

Pizza Jedi John, MKT Siren Sammi and I @ Migas

Last night, on a cool summer evening atop hotspot Migas (best new bar!) was the last awards event of the season, the City Weekend Reader Restaurant and Bar Awards. It was a great event – despite 4 awards given out in every bracket (best, outstanding and editor’s pick) hot-seater Sienna PC kept the whole shebang racing down the straightaway.

And, well, I’m very proud to say that – for the first time ever – that the award for Best Pizza goes to…

Gung Ho! Pizza.

As amazingly awesome as that is, it was nothing compared to what came next.

Best Service: Gung Ho! Pizza.

I don’t even have a photo of that because, well, best pizza? Job well done. High fives all round, see you tomorrow in the office. Luckily I was still there to grab the prize. But… speechless. Absolutely speechless.

Gung Ho! Pizza AllstarsSo to everyone that voted, massive and heart-felt thanks from the GHP crew. It’s so utterly mind-blowing to see all the hard yards we put into the frontline make an impact.  Thanks for all your support. And if you have any ideas on how we can do better on any front, remember you can email us anytime at johnandjade@gunghopizza.com! Cheers again guys :)

BCIS Spring in the City!

Gung Ho! Teamsters Mack and Nancy at BCIS

Gung Ho! Allstars Mack and Nancy at the BCIS Spring in the City event!

Last Saturday Nancy & I set up shop on Beijing City International School’s beautiful campus grounds to sling some pizza slices and spread the word about our new Shuangjing store! It was an amazing event; tons of people were about and the weather was… incredibly cooperative. I mean really. Forecast was for thunderstorms but all we got was non-stop sunshine. Amazing. There was live music, tons of games and events, Gung Ho! buddies Beijing Kids and The Hutong Kitchen were there along with many others. In all we sold nearly two hundred slices of pizza for charity!

Okay, Nancy doesn’t look super happy in the header pic which is weird because she’s basically a ray of sunshine in human form. To the utter surprise of no-one who’s ever ordered from her at Sanlitun, she rocked the stall. It turns out that in college she worked part time at a supermarket pushing samples!

Gung Ho! Allstar: Ronan

Gung Ho! Allstar Ronan Liu

Big Brother Ronan

See that guy there in the white shirt? That’s Ronan. His team call him Brother Liu. He’s been store manager at Gung Ho! from day one and he’s been working with Jade for nearly 10 years. He started off as a chef at Lush and now he’s in charge of getting new Gung Ho! stores off the ground. Not bad eh? He’s a Gung Ho! Allstar.
